Order Only: Miss Granger

I suppose you will all see the latest drama in our Hogwarts journals sooner or later, so I wanted to give you a more official report now I've examined Miss Granger.

You will remember that Minerva placed a protective cantrip on the child last year when she was reassigned to be young Marvolo's servant and sentenc given sleeping quarters off the Slytherin common room. I believe it was Arthur's wise suggestion that this spell be placed on the child to protect her from the adolescent ambitions of the young men in that House.

Well. The spell worked. Its alarm went off this evening, and it should have woken the dead.

Miss Granger is fine. Physically. The spell blasted her assailant back and across the corridor. He is rather the worse for wear, as he richly deserves. I suspect I will find he has a concussion and a great many very significant bruises. I hope he is also suffering from shock and a renewed respect for the personal boundaries of young women. He very definitely violated the bounds of proper decorum. And frightened the child terribly.

She knows what he was about. She's not entirely untutored in the ways of the world. By which I mean not the mere facts of reproduction--I have seen to it that she understands the mechanics of that--but the basic social strategies of the male of our species, which is not something we've discussed at all. What I mean to say, is that she was able to describe the meaning of the look that came over the filthy boy's face as the idea crystallised in his head what he might do with her, and she had a fair idea what he was about as he cornered her.

She's in shock, but she's talking sense and sipping chamomile tea. I've got her settled on Minerva's sofa, wrapped in a warm throw, and if she doesn't show signs of drifting towards sleep soon, I will give her a light dose of a sweet sleep potion. I'd prefer to let her body take it's own course, though, if it will. I always think that trauma is best processed naturally where that's possible.

All right, I suppose.
